SanDisk, Flocking Hell

Comics? Is this still advertising. Yes.

When we launched the iDon't campaign for SanDisk, we bought up a lot of media space. Some of that media space included ads in The Onion. (That's where I get all my news.)

So we decided to create a comic that brought to life the Sheep concept from the original campaign. The multi-talented art director Brian Shown did all the illustrations and I wrote all the panels. (Little known fact: There was a Flocking Hell comic that included a Steve Jobsian figure at one point but it was judged to be too racy.)

This comic was a great sample of how you expand the idea of a campaign beyond just a print ad or banner. This is almost sponsored-content. Which is something everyone in the ad industry is going to find themselves faced with at some point. Personally, I think that's pretty exciting.

Here's the link to my portfolio. You'll have to side-step some annoying banners for now. (My technology team is working on a more user friendly interface. Stay tuned.)
